" only recently heard Zanov from the playlist on the mighty 'Cybernetic Broadcasting System'...I went out and purchased to learn more...what I got was experimental electronics from Zanov...sounding like a mixture of Jean Michel Jarre and Tangerine Dream, Zanov combines tracks of ambient space, sequencers and synth pop melody. Check out ''Enygma'' for heavy, pulsating, bugged out synths or the Jarre sounding ''Moebius 301''.Lovers of progressive synth go forth and seek Zanov !"

"Excellent album by Zanov with A.R.P 2600, Sequencer A.R.P, E.M.S.: VCS 3and R.M.I.: Harmonic synthesizer."

"The most extensive use of an RMI Harmonic can be found on Jarre´s original "Oxygene" album from 1976.Other very nice examples of the Harmonic in use are the albums "Moebius 256 301" and "In Course of Time" by Zanov, from 1977 and 1979, respectively."

"In France especially, space themed dance music became a genre of it's own. RCA delivered "Flying High" by Salt and Pepper - not the 80s girl rap group - , Polydor label released a strange, especially cosmic effort from Zanov called "Moebius", while the London record label put out "Araxis Space Ship" by Araxis, another solid underground favourite. "The edgar froese of france!if you like tangerine dream is very good Zanov is not Russian! - His full name is Pierre Zalkazanov. He's a French synthesizer musician who recorded three albums (Green Ray in 1976, Moebius in 1977 and In Course of Time in 1983). There is no CD release of Zanov albums until yet. Two tracks from Green Ray are on a compilation CD called L’Age d'Analogue."

"I have one LP by him "In Course Of Time" that was very much in the Berlin School / KS vein and I think that this was his swan song. I know that he had several other LP's prior to this one and they went for crazy-high prices on the collector's market. None of these have ever made it to CD to my knowledge (except for 1 track that ended up on a French progressive rock VA disc, IIRC). Anybody know more about this guy? "

I was originally looking for a high quality rip of the incredible 1979 American band Moebius' self-titled album (also released as Mirror Of Infinity in 1981) when I saw the track "Moebius 256" and four of my favourite words 'French' 'cosmic' 'synth' and '1977' so I checked out the Youtube video, nearly fell off my chair and I should have kinda known you would have the entire Zanov output, never mind the single Moebius 256 track I was looking for!
Thanks so much for always having the cosmic goods when I am in need a day of sonic exploration!

PS> If anyone does have a rip of the Moebius 1979/1981 album higher than 160 bitrate can they leave a comment, many thanks again.

The Zanov albums are just growing and growing on me and the fact he seems to have dropped off the radar makes him and his music all the more intriguing...its a crime none of his albums have been released on CD, some of his material was years ahead of the game.
After my post above asking if anyone has a better copy of the Moebius album I feel a little ashamed to be asking for another request so soon afterwards but here goes!
In the comments section "Eric" put up some rapidshare links for the "L'Age d'Analogue" unfortunately all except the first one now have the "This file has been removed from the server, because the file has not been accessed in a long time." Rapidshare notice. The first part already has two French artists I didn't know about before; Richard Vimal & Serge Ramses, both are amazing, producing the kind of ambient music that would only be heard 13 or 14 years later and still sounds contemporary so I would love to hear the rest of the album, no-one seems to have posted it on any blog so if anyone can post it, that would be great.
I will stop making requests now!

We have this blog, Mutant Sounds and a few other blogs to thank for the resurgence of interest in ZANOV - so much so that he is back in the studio and has released a killer new album called 'Virtual Future' and is planning to reissue his back catalogue on CD!

Must have been five years ago since I last messaged about ZANOV!

Anyway, he now has a website and you can sign up for news of the reissues here:

http://www.zanov.net

I feel all nostalgic coming to this blog - the source of so much great music for me! Hope you are well Saltyka and thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the hard work and effort you put into this blog.
