"I remember getting this album around 87/88, when good music was hard to come by. MTV was just into it's toddler stages, and rock n roll was the only thing happening---well, that and teenyboppers like Tiffany and Debbie Gipson. I first heard one of their songs on the radio, and damn near fainted! Although they had a "pop sound", it was obvious they were not White. But yet in still, I loved "Because of You," "Show Me" and "Love Emergency" "Spring Love" because of the uniqueness of their voices! Buy this album to reminisce if nothing else."

"If freestyle is your flavor this album is a must. You wont be sorry if you give it a listen!!"

"are you the type of music listener who cant get enough of artists like Cynthia, Lil Suzy, and Angelina, to name a few? if youre like me then the album "Show Me" by the Cover Girls is an absolute must have. this 1987 Cd was made at the height of the freestyle explosion, the late 80's-early 90's; and several of the songs are STILL requested on radio stations today. im glad i purchased this cd because its what real freestyle music is all about. the catchy love lyrics and distinguishing music is what makes this cd an excellent addition to your collection. personal favorites of mine are "show me", "because of you", and "inside outside"."

Biography:
The Cover Girls are a New York City-based Freestyle, Urban/Dance-Pop trio, the brainchild of music promoter Sal Abbatiello. In 1987, the trio consisted of Louise Sabater (who is also known as Angel Clivillés), Caroline Jackson and Sunshine Wright. They were the one of the first acts to bring freestyle music to the pop charts, having a string of hits in the late eighties. Their debut album Show Me produced five Billboard Hot 100 chart entries: "Show Me" (#44), "Spring Love" (#98), "Because Of You" (#27), "Promise Me" (#40), and "Inside Outside" (#55). The album and its singles are considered early classics of this musical genre.
In 1988 The Cover Girls toured over 40 cities with Menudo featuring Ricky Martin for famed Concert Promoter Darrin McGillis .
In 1989 Wright was replaced by Margo Urban and The Cover Girls released their 2nd Album, "We Can't Go Wrong". The First single from that album "My Heart Skips a Beat" climbed to #38 and the ballad "We Can't Go Wrong" became their first Top 10 hit, peaking at #8. "All That Glitters Isn't Gold" also charted at #49.
In 1992 The Cover Girls released their 3rd album "Here It Is". On this effort, the members were Caroline Jackson (who was the only remaining original member,) Evelyn Escalera and Michelle Valentine. They scored their second Top 10 hit ["Wishing On A Star" #9), Funk Boutique (#55), and their final chart entry to date, "Thank You" (#75). The album "Here It Is" went on to gold status.
Since leaving The Cover Girls in 1990, Sabater has had moderate solo success on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart as Angel Clivillés. In 2000 she released her solo debut album, "Angel". Today Angel tours the U.S. as Angel (The Original Cover Girl).
Evelyn Escalera, although not an original member, has been in the group for the past 15 years, longer than any previous member. Evelyn along with Lorraine Munoz and Sabrina Nieves are the current line-up of The Cover Girls. They are currently touring the U.S and working on The Cover Girls' 5th album.

Angel Clivilles (Louise Angel Sabater):

"ANGEL "The Original CoverGirl"

As Freestyle music makes its remarkable return, Freestyle artist get their second wind and shower America with Freestyle club and concert events.
The struggling life of the Freestyle artist suddenly levels off and their greatest fears are put to rest.
All except one artist that is, Angel. Currently known as The Original CoverGirl, or OCG. Angel’s history and hard work was now threaten as old management attempted to come back into her life and once again disrupt what her current management had finally settled.
As the Lead singer of the hit female trio The Cover Girls, Angel’s petite self and distinctive voice, had become a staple that Freestyle never felt complete without.
Disagreements between past and present management continued, putting both parting at odds.
Past management acted upon their “My Way or the Highway” Attitude and concocted an idea to recreate The Cover Girls and once again take control, not to mention try and erase one of Freestyle most prominent figures. That might have been possible if recordings and videos didn’t exist, but God is the best of planners.
Numerous letters and threats had saturated the Freestyle market from past management, trying desperately to put a complete end to any and all of Angel’s career, a feat that had once worked during an earlier dispute between artist and management.
But this time was different. Angel was not only managed by new company La’ Entertainment, she married the owner, therefore adding an extra layer of security to her newly rekindled career.
La’ Entertainment, headed by Latif Mercado, a name well known throughout the Freestyle industry as a person of initiative, innovation and tough skin. The La’ Organization, which originally stemmed from the short lived label Stylin’ Free Records, has now grown to be a major player and supporter of the Freestyle genre.Angel is back now, stronger than ever. She stands on her own, and her performances can be seen nationwide.
Her life has changed, this time for the best, and it shows. Her natural beauty and voice seem to have frozen in time, and as she performs some of Freestyle’s greatest hits such as Because Of You, My heart Skips A Beat, Inside Outside and of course Show Me, her trademark green eyes seem to tell her audience “Thank You, For Never Forgetting Me”.
