LILIPUT
LiLiPUT were a Swiss post-punk/new wave band active from 1978 to 1983.The group formed in 1978 under the name Kleenex, and soon made a name for themselves, until the threat of legal action by Kimberly-Clark in 1979 prompted a change of name to LiLiPUT (Kleenex being a propietry brand of tampon in Switzerland). Their initial line-up was consisted of Regula Sing (vocals), Marlene Marder (guitar), Klaudia Schiff (bass) and Lislot Ha (drums), and in the late 1970s the band recorded a number of successful singles prior to Sing's departure. In 1982, after playing together for four years, LiLiPUT released their first self-titled full-length LP on Rough Trade. In 2001, Kill Rock Stars released a 46-track double-disc CD spanning five years of LiLiPUT's recordings, starting in 1978 when they were still under the name of Kleenex.

JACK AND THE RIPPERS
one of the first punk bands to come from Switzerland. Formed in '77, recorded this in '78 and split up in '78. The press release says they sounded like a mix of Ramones/Clash/Pistols and the Beach Boys!!. I'd say their sound is closer to the likes of the Boys or even some of Captain Sensibles solo stuff.(http://www.punkoiuk.co.uk/reviews/reviewband.asp?lstBand=Jack+And+The+Rippers)

Hi Salty! Thank you very much for the Swiss Wave Album. I got the vinyl when I was about 14 or 15 and I have to say it totally changed my understanding of music and maybe even life, like Punk and NewWave did for a lot of people. I have been looking for a CD version for years, so I´m glad to have the mp3s now! WOW!!!

Cheers!
