They started in 1980.The line up was : Jan van der Meij (from Vitesse) ,Leon Klaasse ( from Valley of Dolls) ,the bass player Peter van Straaten (from Vitesse and Valley of Dolls). The band played with Golden Earing for three months in 1981,the single Love Can break Your Heart reaches the hit parade.
1982: Avanti, their debut Lp appear and receive everywhere favourable criticisms,the singles Make It Alone and Magic reach the hit parade. They played with the Go go's in it's Europen tour.
In 1984, Klaasse and Van Straaten leave the band.The newcomers are:René van Collem (from Doe Maar and Spargo), bassist Martin Warmer and Rick Vrijman.
In 1987, the second full album Walk on the wire appears. Also these are well received. René van Collem leave from the band,the new member is : Klaas Jonkmans.

powerplay was a well known band during the eigthies overhere in the Netherlands. I saw the band playing several times.
Avanti was re-released on CD at the end of the eigthies with the EP Noises and Voices (1983). Other releases were:
Walk On The Wire (1987)
Hypnotized (1992)
So Hard To Break A Bad Habit (1994)
I enjoy the Avanti Lp very much. I wish I could find it on Cd here in the US. I bought the album for $1 a few years ago at a market sale.
I think they sound a lot like the Outfield and a little like Diesel (remember "Watts in the Tank").
Can anybody post "So Hard To Break A Bad Habit" and "Walk On The Wire" please?
